About PCV

Phoenix Capital Ventures (PCV) is a pre-seed and seed-stage venture firm investing in the technologies shaping how people play, move, compete, and connect. We partner with visionary founders building the future of sports, fitness, gaming, and entertainment, industries that define culture and community. Our team combines decades of operating experience, deep industry networks, and a hands-on approach to helping founders win.

The Role

As an Associate at PCV, you will play a key role across sourcing, diligence, investment execution, and portfolio support. You will work in fast-moving markets, identifying emerging founders, evaluating business models, and helping portfolio companies scale.

You will own sourcing lanes, independently form investment opinions, and lead core diligence workstreams.

This role is built for someone with curiosity, conviction, and creativity. Someone who sees where culture, technology, and consumer behavior are headed and wants to help founders get there first.

What You Will Do

  • Discover and engage founders and early-stage companies across sports, fitness, gaming, and entertainment at the pre-seed and seed stages
  • Build and manage a proprietary deal pipeline, track trends, map networks, and surface differentiated opportunities
  • Conduct market, competitive, and financial analyses to evaluate new investments
  • Support deal execution including financial modeling, diligence, and preparation of investment materials
  • Partner with portfolio companies on growth initiatives, strategic partnerships, and talent introductions
  • Represent PCV at industry events, accelerators, and conferences, becoming a known connector in the ecosystem
  • Collaborate with the investment team on internal initiatives including LP communications, reporting, and fundraising support
  • Contribute to PCV’s internal systems by helping enhance workflows that use technology and AI to improve sourcing, diligence, and portfolio management

Who You Are

  • Deeply passionate about one or more of our core sectors and curious about where they converge
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in startups, venture, strategy, consulting, or operations
  • Experience or networks in sports tech, gaming, creator ecosystems, athlete performance, or fan engagement is strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical skills and a creative mind, able to build both a model and a narrative
  • You think like an investor but move like an operator, resourceful, hands-on, and fast-moving
  • You operate with a fast tempo, value speed over ceremony, and thrive in ambiguity
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator who can distill complexity and connect authentically
  • Excited to help founders win and to grow with a small, high-impact team

Why This Role Matters

This is a chance to shape how PCV sources, evaluates, and supports the next generation of category-defining companies. You will have real ownership, direct exposure to founders, LPs, and partners, and an opportunity to influence the future of the firm.

You will leverage PCV’s access across teams, leagues, entertainment operators, and performance ecosystems to help founders unlock opportunities they cannot get elsewhere.

If you get fired up when you see founders changing how people play, move, and experience entertainment, you will thrive here.

Location and Format

We are headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, but open to candidates based anywhere in New York or Los Angeles. The role offers remote flexibility with occasional in-person time for key meetings, events, and portfolio engagements.

Compensation and Benefits

Competitive base salary plus performance bonus, with long-term equity opportunities. You will also have a clear path for growth and meaningful visibility within the firm.

How to Apply

When applying please include responses to the following five prompts.

Applications without these responses will not be reviewed. Please keep each response under 200 words.

  • Founder Analysis – Pick one company in sports, fitness, gaming, or entertainment that’s changing its industry. What makes it compelling? What could go wrong?
  • Under-the-Radar Trend – What’s an emerging behavior, technology, or cultural shift we should be paying attention to and why?
  • Resilience Story – Tell us about a time you faced real hardship or adversity (personal or professional) and how you responded. What did it teach you about yourself?
  • Unique Advantage – What’s one thing you do unusually well that would make you a better investor, partner, or teammate? (It doesn’t have to be on your resume.)
  • Conviction – Tell us about an idea, product, or founder you believed in before most people did. What gave you conviction and how did it play out?
  • We’re looking for thoughtful, specific answers, not polished essays. We want to see how you think, what drives you, and where you might help us spot the next wave of founders shaping how people play, move, compete, and connect.

We will review applications on a rolling basis and reach out to candidates who demonstrate exceptional insight, curiosity, and character.
